Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ’s About Rope Jams & Intro Classes
What to expect?
It’s a small space. You can expect 4-15 people at each of the Jams and Classes. There are both outdoor and indoor stairs to get in the house and to the basement studio.
There are available rings and bamboo up as hard points, 3-4 spots for suspension available. There is lots of floor space, and all levels of experience present at the events.
People are generally tying, or skill sharing. Talking should be done at a quiet level or away from where other’s are scening. Knotyourpeach is available at the start of each jam to facilitate learning, talk about resources, and help people settle in.
Can I attend a Jam or Class alone?
People do attend solo! Some tips to help if you’re attending a Jam alone: do your best to be social and ask questions. Be open to learning to tie or practice on yourself. Keep showing up. Don’t Interrupt scenes! If you’re unsure, ask someone that doesn’t look busy, or wait until the people you want to talk to are done, untied, and socializing with others in the room again.
You can come and go during the jams as you please, as long as you have a ticket to attend.
If you plan to come solo and only intend to watch: this likely is not the event for you. There’s many performances and spaces hosted throughout the year in which you can watch people scene or perform.
What are the Skillshare events hosted?
They are an open class-like structured timeframe that is meant to practice and learn. To attend, you’ll need to have been vetted for one of the other events, and attended an Intro Class by Knotyourpeach or another equivalent by someone else. It’s a PWYC event, and all the topics covered will be dependent on who attends and what they would like to learn.
What is the vetting process?
This process is intended to help the host Knotyourpeach know your intent of attending. If you haven’t met before, you can expect a few questions. This helps make sure you agree to the rules and values of the space. As long as you agree and have interest in learning to tie or be tied, you’ll get the password to purchase a ticket. This process is in place because it is a private, not a public, space. As well as to ensure people understand the space we’re trying to create, and which you are consenting to be a part of and uphold.
